2014 CTTA Summer Series Wrap-Up

The CTTA hosted the 6th and Final Round of the 2014 “Summer” Series on December 13th with the Annual Toy Drive Trial; a special thanks to Ben Dalgeish for organizing this charity event. About 33 riders enjoyed an event set by TrialsMaster Neil King and you can check out the section-by-section results here, results courtesy of Mitch Ely.

The Summer series enjoyed a great turnout tis year, with more than 80 riders participating in an event! Thanks to everyone that participated. So many people helped make this series a success – to the landowners that graciously hosted an event, to the trialsmasters and organizers of an event, to the volunteers that helped clear or build sections and to those that ran sign up and scoring – THANK YOU! This series wouldn’t happen without your support. The overall series results can be found here.

Results – CTTA Summer Series #5 @ Cow Creek

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the event. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Two inches of rain earlier in the week helped a lot with the traction.

We enjoyed a BBQ brisket lunch afterwards, awards, and then worked on trying to clean the sections in the “after” loops.

A few of us camped Saturday night and we enjoyed a good campfire cooked dinner and s’mores. Ben rolled in at dark, as usual. We were also treated to a great view of a bright meteor that flew across the sky.

Many thanks to Bobby, Ron, John, BJ, Tomas and all who helped me create the sections.
Thanks to all of the other Cow Creek riders for all of the work they did throughout the year to open up new riding areas for all to enjoy. Four of the five sections this year were in new areas.
Thanks to Driskill for coming out and taking pictures. Check them out on the CTTA Facebook page.
Thanks to Mitch for scoring (without the help of a computer)!

Mike, the gracious landowner, stopped by for lunch and we’ve already been talking about next year’s event. What a great friend!

Results – Charity Challenge @ Luckenbach

We had a GREAT turnout for the 12th Annual Harvest Classic Rally and 11th Annual Charity Challenge. Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a success. We raised over $2K for the Candlelighter’s Childhood Cancer Foundation!

SWVTA – Vintage Results
CTTA – Modern Results

I want to especially thank everyone that helped set-up and tear-down this event. As a one-arm trialsmaster, I was pretty dang useless and I couldn’t have pulled off this event without LOTS of help. Thank You!

I also want to thank Richard and Debbie Dupree for their generous donation of a nicely restored ’75 KT 250 Trials Bike. We sold all of the 500 raffle tickets offered at $10 each raising a cool $5K for the families of kids with cancer.

See ya’ next year!

Results for Round 1 of the CTTA’s 2014 Summer Series

Hi All,

It was a great event at Joe Miller’s last weekend! We had a great turnout. Even the weather cooperated with cooler temps – coolest event in the Texas summer that I can remember…

I want to give a BIG shout out of THANKS to Joe Miller for hosting us at his place – it’s a beautiful spot for a trials event! And to BJ Miller for setting a very FUN event; in my group we had riders on the Amateur and Intermediate lines and the difficulty was about perfect.

And a very big Thanks to John Armour and Mitch Ely for running the signup and scoring table – here are the section-by-section results!

Results Rounds 1 & 2 2014 TX State MotoTrials Championship

What a great start to the 2014 State Series!!!  The event was held in Austin at the Emma Long Motorcycle Park.

A big thank you to everyone that braved the wacky bipolar Texas weather!  Those that arrived on Friday to help set up and camp endured below freezing temperatures all day.

A special thanks to Mitch Ely and Jon Penner for signing every body in, doing AMA, and keeping score, Tomas Pantin for setting tarps to block wind, and supplying the heater, and to all the trials masters listed below

John Armour and Neil King put on a great Round 1 on Saturday.  The morning riders had to endure the cold temperatures, but by the afternoon it was hot.  Some even got sunburned.  The “Jack Hammer Loop” was long and very challenging.  So much so that the morning riders had to have time extended.  Thanks to Tomas Pantin and Nora de la Fuente for marking and taping the loops.  No one could get lost with all that tape.

Sunday’s Round 2 was just as exciting.  Thank you, Mitch Ely and Bobby Reece.  The loop was much shorter and followed the creek bed.  It was rocky, but not nearly as abusive.  Everyone was pretty sore and worn out from Saturday so Sunday was tough.  It also got warm very quickly.  The morning sections were fun.  The Master riders were really put to the test and they all fought hard.

It was nice to see some new people show up and always great to see the regular Trials families.  A wonderful time was had by all.  We were glad to see that the “threat” of bad weather didn’t keep anyone from showing up.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event in Bridgeport on March 8th & 9th.

Happy riding and keep your feet up.

– BJ MIller

Results – Charity Challenge at the Harvest Classic Rally!

What an event! Perfect weather, a great turnout and we raised big money for a worthy cause! We raised over $3,000 for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation!!! A special THANKS to Jay Glasscock – you rock! It has been great to have a club t-shirt, the first that I can remember since I started riding with the CTTA in ’99 and it was an incredibly wonderful contribution to the Charity Challenge! Thanks to everyone that participated in the 2013 Charity Challenge – your contribution will make a difference!

We had a really wonderful turnout with 43 riders in the morning’s Modern event and 21 in the afternoon on Vintage iron. Tristan Harris, Eric Smith, Steve Elms, Charles Coville, Ben Dalgleish, Daniel Hunt, Andrew Trousdale and BJ Miller were the big winners in the morning event and Michael Glasscock, Ben Dalgleish and Adam Hall took top honors in the afternoon. Congratulations all of you!

For all of the results, for all of the section-by-section, loop-by-loop action – courtesy of Mitch Ely – check ’em out here:

A very SPECIAL THANKS! to EVERYONE that helped set up or tear down this event!!! It’s a bit of a construction project to host a trials at Luckenbach. The natural terrain is a bit easy, but with your efforts (sore muscles and sore backs…) we pulled it off again. If you were there to both set up and tear down – you really do rock – THANKS!

Lastly, I really want to call out John Armour for going above and beyond with his really, really cool demo trailer! I think everyone enjoyed riding it and the crowd really enjoyed the show that the top riders – David Mizell, Glen Roblin, BJ Miller & Lance Miller – put on.

Again, thanks to each and everyone one of you that helped make the 2013 Charity Challenge such a success. Hope to see you next year!

Don

Results from Smithville

It was a little slippery at the start of Round 4 at the McMahan’s Ranch in Smithville due to overnight rains, but we dodged any additional rain and traction was just got better and better after the first loop.

Results CTTA #4
Results SWVTA #3

A special THANKS to George and Wayne McMahan for having everyone out to ride at the ranch – THANK YOU! Thanks also to our trialsmasters Wayne McMahan and Stephen Hetzel and to Mitch Ely for signup and scoring!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Charity Challenge at the Harvest Classic Rally – mark your calendars for October 19th!.
