CTTA Quarterly Meeting – Sunday March 15th at CTOR

The CTTA quarterly meeting will be this Sunday March 15th.  We are going to have a CTOR workday in the morning, eat a pitch-in lunch, then have our meeting.  There has been a lot of work completed at CTOR for the upcoming State Series event, but there is a good bit left to do.  Work will be primarily concentrated where it is most needed in the Saturday loop or “back area”.  For those who are only attending the meeting and not bringing a motorcycle, BJ is working on getting the daily rate waived.  BJ will let us know that answer shortly.  A single day rate of $20.00 per person applies for those who are bringing a motorcycle. If paying the daily rate is a issue and will prevent you from attending this workday, please contact me or BJ and we will work something out.  I’ll post an agenda and more details shortly.

We are very excited that CTOR has ramped up developing and if you haven’t seen the new riding areas (especially in the back area), come check it out.  Texas Trials continues to strengthen and CTOR is an awesome addition.  Come out and be a part of developing CTOR this weekend.

Results – Rounds 3 & 4 Comanche Cup

Despite the 6″ of snow that was on the ground Thursday morning, Ray and Laura Peters pulled off another fine event at Dawna & Sid Mauldin’s ranch in the Palo Duro Canyon. They had a little help from the fine weather that graced the weekend – it was a beautiful weekend for a trials event with temps in the 60s. Thanks to everyone that helped with the event!

Here are the section by section results courtesy of Mitch Ely: Round 3 (Updated 3/18), Round 4.

Just a reminder, the Diamondback National is only a month away. Please plan to help Ray and Laura make the National event a huge success – they need your help. They will especially need experienced observers, please volunteer!

2015 SWVTA Schedule

Hello all,

The dates for this years SWVTA Series have been set. Just like last year, it will be divided up between Spring and Fall. It is as follows:

Round 1:       March 29 (Sun), Willis’ Woods, Palestine, Tx.
Rounds 2&3:  May 2/3, Rio Bravo MX Park, Houston, Tx.
Rounds 4&5:  June 6/7, McMahan Ranch, Smithville, Tx. (ITSA National)
Summer Break
Round 6:       Sept. 20 (Sun), Bluebonnet MX Park, Deanville, Tx.
Round 7:       Oct. 10 (Sat), Huffman Frams, Donie, Tx. (AFSP)
Round 8:       Oct. 24 (Sat), Luchenbach, Tx. (Harvest Classic)
Round 9:       Dec. 5 (Sat), McMahan Ranch, Smithville, Tx. (Awards Banquet)

Like last season, the best 5 rounds count towards year end trophies. Hopefully everyone can try and make as many as possible.

We had to shuffle around the date for the American Fallen Soldier Project (AFSP) to avoid some conflicts. By doing so, we’ve extended our series into early December. At our final round in December, we will also be collecting toys for a good cause. More on that later.

Also, even though it is not required to be an ITSA member to compete, I would highly encourage you to join. It cost $40 a year and will save you $10 entry per event. If you ride 4 rounds, it pays for itself. If it wasn’t for Bob Ginder and all of his hard work at ITSA, it would be damn near impossible for a group as small as our to provide liability to the land owners and the club to host an event. So please, if you can, join. The ITSA web site is:

More Schedule Revisions

The dates for Rounds 3 & 4 have been moved back 1 week to March 7 – 8. Here’s the updated Texas State series Intro Letter with all of the changes incorporated! Please note that this is the 2nd revision; the first was a venue swap for the first and last rounds.

SWVTA – Rider Clinic

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to get those old bikes out of hibernation, top off the fluids and change out the plugs. Our inaugural 2014 SWVTA Championship series went out with a bang. We had great ridership over the coarse of the year, and a few of us competed in enough events to qualify for year end trophies, not to mention the really cool jackets for those who won their respective class.

We plan on kicking off the 2015 SWVTA Championship Series with a rider clinic Saturday, February 21st at Huffman Farms outside of Donie, Tx. This will be a loosely organized fun day with advanced riders helping out the beginners with tips on bike set-up, riding and falling. We will gather around 9:30am, with a lunch break around noonish with a club meeting to hammer out dates for the 2015 championship series. No charge for entry fee, feel free to come camp out. It will also be Jay’s birthday! Help him celebrate.

Oh, and see the pdf of the final tally from last years series. Points were awarded as the following: 1st=30, 2nd=25, 3rd=21, 4th=18, 5th=16, 6th=16 7th=15 and so on.

See you the 21st,
Stephen Hetzel
